William (Bill) Wilson Nichols, 73 of West Portsmouth, died Monday, October 8, 2018 at the S.O.M.C. Hospice Center in Portsmouth. Bill was born on May 26, 1945 in Portsmouth, the son of the late Orville and Marjorie (Cole) Nichols. Bill was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Kay (Benson) Nichols, whom he married on October 22, 1966 in Chicago, IL and two brothers, Charles and Arnold Nichols. He was a 21-year Army veteran of the Vietnam Era (having served two tours in Vietnam), had worked as a core maker at Buckeye Steel Casting Company and was a truck driver for Bulk Transit Trucking.
Bill is survived by one son, William (Rebecca) Nichols, Jr. of Cedar Park, TX; one daughter, Krista Nichols of West Portsmouth; 5 sisters: Pattie (Ralph) Wolfenbarger, Mary Lou (Dewey) Sexton and Sandra Crawford all of South Shore, KY; Rebecca (Jeff) Daniels of Jasper, OH and Brenda Schod of Colorado Springs, CO; and a brother, Dale Nichols of Portsmouth. Bill had 4 grandchildren who he adored (Maybe/Maybe Not): Christopher (Lillie), Benjamin, Katherine and Abigail Nichols of Cedar Park, TX; in-laws, Patricia (James) Cleland of North Olmsted, OH and Ronald (Benita) Benson of Newport, VT; several nieces and nephews and his special BFF’s/caregivers, Kayla Anderson and Jennifer Burchett; and a granddog/buddy, Winston.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday October 12, 2018, at the Adkins Family Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Mike Simpson officiating. Interment will be held at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. The family will receive friends at Adkins Family from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Friday. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the S.O.M.C. Hospice Center. The family wishes to thank Dr. Inoshita, his staff and the S.O.M.C.
